The Four Pillars

The Intuitas approach

01

StructureYou understand your message and can present it clearly

02

ConvictionYou deliver your message with genuine confidence

03

ImpactYour message lands fully with your audience

04

PresenceYou and your message make a truly lasting impression

Intention

The core

At the centre of every Moment of Communication is your intention. The more distilled, clear and actionable it is, the more everything else melts into the background. Nerves disappear, self-awareness vanishes and you are able to communicate with true confidence, conviction and authority.

From your intention, you build a clear structure that you can deliver naturally with genuine conviction, so that it lands strongly with your audience and you leave a truly lasting impression.

Brief interactionHigh-level presentation
  • A Zoom meeting with colleagues
  • A key presentation to the board
  • A speech to an auditorium of hundreds
  • A televised audience of thousands

The most useful thing any speaker can do is identify their intention for each moment with their audience. Working with the clearest and strongest possible intention solves the great majority of communication concerns, and is the beating heart of the Intuitas approach.

“What stood out was Matt's ability to go beyond presentation techniques and understand what was happening internally in those moments that might be getting in the way of communicating naturally.”
Founder, health tech company

The course

  1. Session 1 of 4 · Structure

    True Confidence

You and your message make a truly lasting impression

Managing nerves and embodying presence are emergent qualities, arising from embedding the work of the first three sessions and ongoing practice.

Structural Purpose

Module · Structure

Structure, story and the golden nugget

Without a clear structure, it's impossible for your audience to follow what's going on in your head.

Structure needs purpose. It must have a direction, and every part of it must move your audience towards the understanding you want them to leave with. This module applies that discipline to business communication: board papers, proposals, updates, data-heavy findings and the stories that bring them to life.

In this module

  1. The golden nugget and the shape of the message

Give your audience the gold up front, and a structure both they and you can follow.

  2. A three-stage structure and two levels of communication

Ensure you're telling your audience how to navigate your speech as well as the information itself.

  3. Story and conviction

A story lands and stays where a list of facts slides away.

The outcome

Mastering Structure ensures your audience clearly receives and understands the content, purpose and aim of every Moment of Communication.

Yours to keep

A one-page structure template, your one-sentence message and story bank, and filmed practice.

Who, Why, How

Module · Conviction

Who you're talking to, why you're talking to them and how to land it

Three basic questions that do the work every time, even when you haven't prepared.

This module trains these basic questions until they become second nature. So you find your intention, and the simplest way to express it, whether you've had weeks to prepare or just seconds.

It draws on the different hats you wear at work, each with its own requirements, and on practical drills that make the questions instinctive, to bring you the results you need in every scenario.

In this module

  1. Finding your intention

Are you being truly honest with yourself about what your aim is? And how can you reframe that if you need to?

  2. Hunting your intention down

It's got to matter for you to want to go after it.

  3. The three types of people in every audience

And how to give them all what they need.

The outcome

Mastering Conviction ensures your audience fully buys in to every Moment of Communication.

Yours to keep

A pocket card of the three questions, your role and intention map, and a personal drill plan.

The Non-Verbal Steam Train

Module · Impact

Body, delivery and impact

Most of our communication travels without words, and it thunders into people's consciousness every time we engage with each other.

Stance, eye line, facial expression, gesture and movement reach your audience well before the words you choose even leave your mouth. But they are symptoms of self-belief, which is driven by strong intention. We reverse-engineer symptomatic physical behaviours to discover why they occur when they do, what it means about your conviction in your message, and how to improve that.

The emotional component of body language is Impact: the impression you create, and the understanding, confidence and enthusiasm you leave behind in the room.

In this module

  1. Delivery

How you say it is judged far more strongly than what you say.

  2. The body and impact

Your audience reads you from the moment you enter the room.

  3. Undesirable habits

Physical habits are indicative of your own buy-in to your message and intention. Anything that remains once they are clarified and entrenched is addressed specifically.

The outcome

Mastering Impact galvanises your audience to act positively on your essential message.

Yours to keep

Before-and-after recordings, a ten-minute daily warm-up and marked-up practice notes.

True Confidence

Module · Presence

Nerves, self-belief and speaking under pressure

True confidence allows you to share ideas with clarity and competence, be in the moment and leave a lasting impact.

Confidence is an emergent quality. It grows out of pursuing your intention with absolute conviction and leaning in to your audience's engagement. It deepens every time you put it into practice.

This module is the culmination of the course. It ties everything together, giving specific, bespoke tools for areas of concern and building on areas of confidence so people can communicate effectively and comfortably under pressure.

In this module

  1. Practice, Assess, Amend, Repeat

Working with the approach as a whole and diving into specific areas as needed, we refine your individual approach holistically and solidify your primary toolkit.

The outcome

Mastering Structure, Conviction and Impact in real-world scenarios is the mastery of nerves, and the portrayal of Presence and confidence.

Yours to keep

A personal pre-talk routine card, filmed practice and your confidence plan.

Sharing with the Camera

Focus session · On screen

Presenting on screen and online

Treat the lens as a person. Share with it, and with everyone on the other side of it.

Online, the Non-Verbal Steam Train runs through a small frame and a small speaker, and much of what you would normally read in the room disappears. This session covers Zoom, Teams, webinars, recorded video and remote interviews: working to a lens, scaling your energy for the screen, and keeping a dialogue going with an audience you can't look directly at.

The outcome

Mastering the screen ensures every Moment of Communication lands with the same clarity online as it does in the room.

Yours to keep

A set-up checklist, your recorded clips and a personal set-up plan.

Being in the Room

Focus session · Executive presence

Executive presence and gravitas for leaders

Executive presence is being in the room in the right way.

Presence is as much about internal belief and intention as anything else. The ability to focus your attention, engage tactically with the present moment, invest in it fully and achieve your intention creates an aura of executive presence. The people who have it show it all the time: in every conversation, in their demeanour and in the way they present themselves.

This session builds a clearly defined, individual understanding of what presence means for you, then puts it to work on your real material, with direct coaching and feedback.

The outcome

Mastering executive presence means investing fully in every moment, and your audience feels it.

Yours to keep

Filmed, coached practice on your real material and a personal action plan.

Winning Buy-In

Focus session · The pitch

Pitching for investment and new business

The ultimate question in any pitch: would you invest in this yourself? The answer needs to be a very secure and strong yes.

Pitching ties together all the requirements of the course and raises the heat intensely. Driving a room towards a conversion moment is likely the highest-pressure presentation you will make. It requires a perfect deck, impeccable clarity of messaging and absolute conviction in yourself.

This session helps you identify the three types of people in every audience and refine your intention towards each of them. What does buy-in look like, how can you work towards it, and how do you know when you've achieved it?

The outcome

Mastering the pitch moves every party in the room one level closer to a secure and strong yes.

Yours to keep

A filmed mock-panel pitch, a question bank and deck review notes.

Technicolour

Focus session · The big stage

Keynote and conference speaking

If your communication sits on a grey scale, the big stage needs it in full technicolour.

A keynote is the grandest Moment of Communication most people will face: an auditorium of hundreds or even thousands, sometimes a televised audience of many more. This session scales up your delivery so it holds the largest rooms.

Along the way we find out how far you can push your energy and intention, and where too far really is.

The outcome

Mastering the big stage carries your idea to every seat in the room, and keeps it with your audience after they leave.

Yours to keep

Talk development notes, your one-sentence message and a filmed full run of your talk.
